Kathryn Nelson, ASID, RID, NCIDQ

Kathryn Nelson

Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Kathryn has always had a passion for creativity & design. Her award-winning interiors firm, Kathryn Nelson Design, specializes in full-service design services for residential new construction, renovations and FFE procurement for the busy professional. KND® imbues their Clients’ designs with exceptional consideration for their lifestyle. KND® has no set style...every property and space are unique and deserving of their own thoughtful, original design that speaks back to and respects the property’s architectural manner. The one thing we insist on is doing so in an ethical, honest and mindful way. By using as many Eco-minded and sustainable materials as we can, donating salvageable items to local charities, repurposing and reupholstering and reducing construction waste, we intend to help create a greener future for the design + build world.

Due in part to her love of the arts, travel and gardening, Kathryn’s designs are infused with a lively spirit of unexpected elements grounded by her love of classical forms. Consideration for architecture, art, energy efficiency, engineering needs, lighting, landscape design and technology integration are also very important. KND® has a wealth of trusted and talented specialists to aid in the full-service design and implementation of your project needs. We can’t do it all on our own and we like to support other architects, businesses, builders, contractors, developers and stakeholders whom we believe in.

Never one to stop learning and an avid supporter of education, Kathryn is an active ASID member as part of the Dallas Design Community. She is the Sponsorship Co-Chair for ASID Texas Chapter (American Society of Interior Designers) and has served as past President for ASID Texas Chapter and DIDA (Dallas Independent Designers Association). She is an Advisory Board Member for the Interior Design Program at El Centro College and Class Agent & Volunteer with the Alumni Association for The Lamplighter School of Dallas.

Prior to launching her own firm, Kathryn enjoyed the rich diversity of experience gained from being part of two prestigious Dallas-based design firms. While in their employ, she worked on residential, commercial, hospitality and multi-family projects across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean and South America.

She passed her her third and final exam of the NCIDQ (IDFX) last year. Kathryn is proud to have advanced her professional qualifications and to be a Registered Interior Designer in the great State of Texas.
